The Materials Physics and Nanotechnology programme is designed for students who have an interest in and an aptitude for both technological sciences and physics. This is a unique bidirectional undergraduate study programme in English. The programme provides students with a fundamental knowledge of physics, an understanding of technologies, technological design, together with problem-solving skills, and is aimed to address the needs of students seeking innovative careers in today’s technological age.

Top reasons to study at KTU:

1. As the program emphasizes science, mathematics and technologies, students are well prepared to pursue graduate work in either technological field or physics.

2. Visiting professors from Stanford University, University of Southern Denmark and experts from industry organize international seminars and workshops to be in touch with global scientific solutions.

3. Besides training laboratories at the faculty, the latest and most advanced equipment installed in KTU science and business valley “Santaka“ is used during the study process.

4. Researches show that in year 2025 the demand for specialists with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills will grow up to 25% in Lithuania, whereas 3,6 million jobs will be created in EU.

Career opportunities

“Currently the market provides various materials, distinguished by certain physical, chemical, electric or optical characteristics. Creation of a product raises many challenges, related to the appropriate choice of materials for achievement of the desired result and insurance of competitiveness of the final product. Those challenges can be met most effectively by the graduates of the studies of Materials Science, who contribute to the increase of company’s efficiency and product’s added value.” – Vytautas Narbutas, director of UAB “Elintos matavimo sistemos”.

“University provides wide possibilities for scientific self-expression, which motivates a consistent pursuit of a career. The world constantly presents new challenges, which can be met only by creation of innovative materials, distinguished by new characteristics. Today I can say that it was a right choice and the knowledge, acquired during studies, is very useful at work, which requires constant learning.” – Tomas Tamulevičius, Senior Researcher at KTU Institute of Materials Science.
