Overview

The aim of the programme is to prepare specialists who are capable of studying various societal processes, to identify problems and to propose solutions to solving them. Graduates will be able to conduct social and psychological research, to prepare and implement research projects, to analyse, diagnose and interpret social and psychological reality.

The programme meets the highest standards of the profession – Sociology and Psychology bachelors will be able to pursue career in public and market research agencies, government, business, science and study companies or organisations.

Unique study profile and interesting modules

This is the only study programme in Lithuania that offers integrated learning of both sociology and psychology. It also discusses unique and relevant study topics, such as the understanding of technological risks, social effect of climate change, social innovations, fostering of civic involvement, and others.

Lecturers of this study programme are experienced researchers well-known to general public.

Programme structure

Solid competences of analysis and research

During the studies students conduct individual research projects, work with practitioners on national and international research projects. They are also allowed access to the data of international research projects in the Lithuanian Archive of Humanitarian and Social Sciences Data (LiDa), administered by KTU. Students use data analysis software, apply innovative and high-in-demand methods of analysis and research.

Graduates often find work as researchers, analysts, consultants. The work of a sociologist is far from monotonous; every new project can be completed in a new setting, follow a new theme. General tasks of a sociologist include preparation and execution of research projects, data gathering and analysis, report preparation, making presentations, carrying out training, as well as providing recommendations for politicians and leaders of organisations. Many of our students do their internships in international organisations.
