Overview

Chemistry is essential to our modern lives. The industrial applications of fundamental chemistry knowledge directly affect us daily – what we eat, what we wear, our transport, the technology we use, how we treat illnesses and how we get electricity – to name just a few.

The design of new sustainable materials and chemical products requires an understanding of the synthesis and physical/chemical properties of substances, as well as the relationship between the structure and the properties. While studying MSc Applied Chemistry at KTU, you will develop competence to analyse state-of-the-art products and innovative technologies, work with contemporary equipment.

During your studies, you will expand your understanding of the complex instrumental analysis processes and will learn to assess the value of new technologies. Your deep knowledge in chemistry and instrumental analysis together with research skills will equip you with an ability to form and solve both fundamental and industry challenges in the field.

After graduating from master’s in Applied Chemistry at KTU you will be able to develop sustainable and socially responsible materials and chemical products, meeting the society’s needs for inovative products.

The graduates of MSc Applied Chemistry study program are the innovation leaders – they can shape the society’s attitudes towards science and industry as the drivers of human well-being. Relying on the latest chemistry and chemical technology achievements, they can seek a career in high-technology research and industrial companies. They develop environmentally friendly smart materials that are improving the quality of our daily lives.

  • While studying, you will have access to the latest complex chromatographic, spectroscopic, spectrometric, thermal and X-Ray powder diffraction analysis equipment;
  • Students can join internationally renowned research groups for fundamental scientific or industrialR&D projects;
  • Excellent opportunities to go on exchange studies or practices at universities or companies in Germany, UK, France, Netherlands, Spain or other countries.

Values

Application of theoretical knowledge for the development of new materials and investigation:

  • The newest theoretical knowledge of organic, inorganic chemistry and deep understanding of the newest methods of instrumental analysis allow designing analytic, simulation and experimental investigations, managing them, forming, and solving new problems in the fields of chemistry and industry.

Use of modern instrumental analysis technique:

  • Not only the ordinary laboratory equipment, but also the newest complex chromatographic, spectroscopic, thermal, dynamic-mechanical analysis, and other devices are used in the process of studies.

Opportunity to participate in research projects:

  • The studies provide excellent opportunities to participate in the projects of research groups, research and experimental development (R&D) projects and projects of international programmes, e.g. Lithuania-Latvia-Taiwan, Lithuanian-Belarus, Lithuania-Ukraine, Lithuania-France, etc.

Opportunity to study at foreign universities:

  • The studies provide excellent opportunities to go and gain experience in German, UK, French, Dutch, Spanish, and other universities by using the bilateral student exchange contracts of Erasmus+, KTU, and partner universities and other scholarship programmes.

From product and technology specialist to the manager:

  • The graduates can become not only developers and researchers of new materials, but also project managers of development of new products and technologies, chemistry specialists/technologists of companies, consultants of companies, experts of analytic laboratories, managers of chemistry, cosmetics or domestic chemistry industry, managers of sales/consultation companies.

Discover Europe with Erasmus+:

  • Choose from a variety of European cities for your Erasmus+ studies. Experience diverse cultures, languages, and academic environments while gaining invaluable international experience. Seize the opportunity to broaden your horizons and make unforgettable memories with Erasmus+.
