Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is supporting the Ukrainian students fleeing the war by providing them tuition-free studies in the study programmes taught in English. The support extends to the students in all study levels, including those who are currently studying at KTU. In addition, Ukrainian students of KTU who are experiencing financial difficulties can apply for a one-time social scholarship by filling out the application.

KTU, together with other Lithuanian higher education institutions, aims to help the Ukrainians fleeing from the war. The University has already announced that it will accept the representatives of the Ukrainian universities (researchers, students) who during the adaptation period will be housed in the KTU dormitories and other university-owned accommodation.

“University is seeking to support and welcome students who suffered from military operations, who are fleeing from war in Ukraine,” says Jonas Čeponis, KTU Vice-Rector for Studies.

According to him, KTU will accept the Ukrainian students from all the study levels whose studies were interrupted by the war activities. The students will be able to continue their education in the study programmes offered in English. Based on individual requests during the adaptation period, they will be provided with accommodation and will have full access to all the services available to KTU students.

The current Ukrainian students of KTU who are experiencing financial difficulties can apply for a one-time social scholarship by filling out the application. These students can be exempted from this semester’s tuition fee.

“Given the atrocities that are happening in Ukraine as we speak, we all understand that there might be no home for the students to come back to. Therefore, KTU is planning to partly compensate the tuition fee for those Ukrainian citizens who are currently studying at KTU,” says Čeponis.

The University understands that there might be specific requirements with regards to the studies, such as the possibility to study remotely. According to Čeponis, each case is individual, therefore they will be evaluated and discussed separately with the faculty providing the selected study programme.
