KTU Welcome Week’22: Light Up Your Way
Starting from Wednesday, August 24 for more than a week, KTU Campus will be bustling with freshers and returning students. The welcome week “Light up your way” packed with events will stretch into the first week of September.
Campus and city tours, concerts, lectures, cinema nights and concerts will introduce the students to all the aspects of university life – studies, organizational structure and after-studies activities. Welcome week events are the perfect way to get to know your university and future colleagues better.
“Welcome week is a great opportunity to get to know the university where you will spend the next few years. I’m not only talking about academic subjects, many of which will be introduced during the first lectures, after-classes activities and self-expression opportunities, which are abundant at the university but also about new friends. New connections are much easier built when the first-year students are spending a fun time together,” says Ignas Galicinas, Vice-President of the Kaunas University of Technology Students’ Union and the coordinator of the event.
KTU welcome week kickstarts with the picnic for all the dormitory residents at noon on Wednesday, August 24. On the next evening, movie night “Termosai” will take place next to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Design and the week will end with campus sports day and LAN: Screen Lights night.
A night for computer enthusiasts, also known as a “LAN Party”, will bring together owners of various computers and game consoles to establish a local area connection (LAN) and play multiplayer video or virtual reality games together. Students interested in the history of these parties will be able to try out various retro consoles during the event.
“Each new generation that enters higher education is more and more open to the connection with technology – an integral part of our lives. Not only die-hard players are invited to join LAN: Screen Lights but also those who enjoy playing short and fun games that do not require much skill,” invites Galicinas.
Amon the informational events, try not to miss the Students’ Organisations’ Day next Tuesday, August 30, where all the students’ organisations active at KTU will introduce themselves. For the international students, the most important days are Monday and Tuesday next week, when the registration and the introductory lectures will take place.
August will end with a christening party for the freshers and the musical evening “Me, you and music” at the campus.
On the very first days of September, Erasmus+ Students Network KTU is offering additional activities for international KTU students. Among them are – a museum visit, a pub crawl, an evening of board games and a trip to the seaside.
